My favourite viewpoint
is a 10 minute uphill walk from my house. It faces South (with a bit of SW and SE), showing Tryphena Bay, Channel Island, Colville Channel, Coromandel Peninsular and to what New Zealanders call the big smoke (Auckland). On clear days, one can see motu Rangitoto and the Sky Tower with the unaided eye. The other day I noticed weird lights, stepped outside to realise that there was a lightning storm in the Auckland Region. So I grabbed my camera and tripod, and rushed up to the viewpoint. Today, I want to share with you one twilight photo. I made it with my new 77mm f.18 lens. A high quality lens, part of the Pentax so-called “holy trinity limited series”, I purchased for portraiture.
